Where in the world are you?

Just Married with Coupons

I love this blog hop!  I like to find out where people are and what it's like where they live.

I live near Chicago, but I am out in the country.
We get the best of both worlds around here!
Just yesterday I was downtown Chicago volunteering at a feeding center
(yes, I was with drunks, pimps, transvestites, the poor, needy and afflicted, and plenty of others)
and came home where I can see horses in the back yard
and a donkey across the street!
What is interesting about the world around you?

What's your specialty?

What do you do for people?  Everyone has something special about them that they are known for and that they do for others.  Some people make quilts, some cook, some hug, some always have a kind word, some throw awesome parties, etc.

I think I have several specialties.  First, I like to make my house a home.  You know... nest!
I want people to feel cozy and comfortable when they come to our house.  If they come for a dinner, I set it up buffet style so they can feel at ease getting things out of the kitchen.  If they come to stay, I provide everything that I think they may need for their stay and show them around the kitchen so that they can help themselves if need be.

I want our home to be a place of refuge for my husband and family.  Of course, it first starts with me (that's the hard part) and then it can transfer to the actual house.  Love, no yelling, no name calling, kind acts, and blessings are all things that my family tries to give to each other.

If I am out of the house (I said IF), I like to give.  I give kind acts, cards that say "God loves you", extra tips, and of course, a smile goes a long way!

Someday, I'd like to learn to quilt and give them to people.  Quilts are just cozy!

So, what's your specialty?

Tamara Laroux: Surviving a Suicide Attempt

Tamara Laroux: Surviving a Suicide Attempt

Get Off Your "Blog"!

Is your house a mess?  Need to get it clean in a hurry?  Get off your blog!  Hah....

I was cleaning in a big hurry because I have a TON to do today and I thought I'd share what I use.  When I put praise music on I can multi-task to the max!  I can get my house clean AND praise the LORD while doing it.

Here are the songs that I am using this morning.  You can buy them off of AMAZON for about .99 cents.

If Mary and Joseph Had Used Facebook

I saw this at church last night and thought you all might like it!  Sounds weird but it actually stirred me up inside.

Are you a child of God? Are you "sick"?

I read a couple of blogs this morning of some mamas that are having trouble with their bodies or with their children's bodies.  I posted some prayers and Scripture in their comments and decided that maybe more of you need this today.

Here ya go!

I know that this is going to sound a little radical for you but I am flowin in the Spirit this morning so I am just going to speak it to ya!

You are a child of the Most HIGH God! You are NOT sick. Do not claim that over yourself. Walk in His healing and in His Power.

The Bible teaches that there is power in God's Word and in our wordS. (Prov. 18:21, Mat. 17:20)

Quote Scripture out loud (powerful words):

I am healed by the stripes of Jesus (Isa. 53:5)

I command every organ in my body to function the way God intended (PS 139:14)

I pray for my immune system to be strengthened in the name of Jesus (Ps. 119:28)

Lord, You are the health of my countenance (Ps. 43:5)

Lord, You heal off of our dis/eases including ________ (fill in the blank) (Ps. 103:3)

Let Your virtue (power) touch me and heal me (Luke 6:19)

I release the fire of God to burn out any sickness or disease that would operate in my body in the name of Jesus!

I receive the Word of God which is health to my flesh (Prov. 4:22)

I have faith that You can AND I have faith that You WILL heal ME in Jesus Name!

Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed (Jer. 17:14)

Thank you LORD! You are awesome and this is the day that You have made.  I will rejoice and be glad in it!

Question for all of you awesome blogging women

I was reading through some blogs this morning, and something I read triggered these questions.  I'm just being curious and am only asking out of curiosity.  I have no other agenda.

Do you have a best friend?  I'm talkin about a girl friend IN REAL LIFE!

Do you have a lot of friends or mostly acquaintances?

What kinds of things do you do with your friend(s)?

If you have a family, how often do you get to see your friends?

Hearts On Fire Friday ~ Marriage Fun & Enouragement

Hearts On Fire Friday

Is your marriage hot and on fire?
Is passion flowing even more than when you were first married?

Most marriages have difficulty at some point.
Most marriages have issues to work through.

Your marriage can reach the mountain top again.
With God, all things are possible!

Use texting to add some fun!

One fun thing that my husband and I do is
we text each several times a day.
My husband will send me uplifting verses about
wives or marriage or love. (You can get some
interesting verses from Song of Solomon!)

While we are going down the road with the family,
sometimes we text each other.
We'll say things that we wouldn't normally say
in front of the boys.  (We do this at home too.)

What are you doing to spice up your marriage?

Hello From Janet

Thought I'd post a pic of our family.  I had my son take it late last night because I needed a pic for a project I was doing.  So, this is a photo on the fly!

It's a blizzard out there ...but beautiful!

This is what it looks like where I live!  The pic wasn't taken in my front yard but it sure looks like it could have been.  Does it look miserable?

I think it's beautiful!  Cold? - yes!  Windy? - yes!  Would I want to be stuck in it? - no!  ...but beautiful never the less.

We were coming home from my parents' house and we could hardly see, the roads were slick, and there were some accidents.  Dangerous? - yes! ...but still beautiful.

You see, scientists say that it's likely that no two snowflakes are the same!  No kiddin?!

Check this out:
"In all that snow, however, scientists believe the chance that any two flakes are exactly alike is virtually zero."

That is so amazing to me!  Especially when I'm surrounded by mounds and mounds of that white flaky stuff!  It's blowing all around.  Swirling... swirling...

...but beautiful!

Enjoy the beauty ...so serene ...so breath-taking.

What does it look like where you live?

We Three Kings ~ The Three Wise Men

Have you ever wondered about that?  We three kings...
Were there really three?  Does it matter?

I'm a truth seeker and speaker!  I want the truth, the facts;
that's just the kinda girl I am!

I started questioning this a few years ago.  That has caused
me to question a lot of things.  Questioning causes me to
open my Bible and look for myself!

I found an article called
It helps to explain (in plain English) the facts behind the wise men.

Here are a couple of quotes from the article:
"You have noticed that the idea of "three wise men" is NOT actually mentioned in the Bible. If that idea is not Biblical, what should you do with it? If any other idea you may have learned is not Biblical, what should you do about it?"

This is how it started for me.  I was just wondering so I looked!  One thing led to another and now
I wonder all of the time!  Then, I look!
"Of course, the number of wise men is a very small thing. But God may be opening up your mind, little by little, pointing out one tiny error in "the Christmas story," and watching to see what your reaction is. If you show God you wish to learn His truth and move away from error, God will probably show you another little truth, then another. What you do with that information will determine what God does next in His growing relationship with you."
So tell me, what do you wonder about,
and what have you looked up to see if it is truth or tradition?

Words Mean Something

We all use them, whether for good or for bad.
We can use positive words to lift up or
negative words to bring down.
David was king and on his death bed.  He was giving instructions to his son who had just been given the throne and he said something interesting.

He said: "So act according to your wisdom,"  (1 Kings 2:6a)

As I read on, I saw that God (Yahweh) appeared to Solomon in a dream (COOL) and told him,
"Ask what you wish me to give you."  (REALLY COOL)

Solomon was already wise (his father spoke it into him) but asked for more wisdom. (1 Kings 3:9)

Our words are weighty!  Our words carry power!
Power for good or for destruction...

Be careful of what you speak into your children.

In the mood for giving?

Do you have extra toiletries?  Do you know someone who may have trial size toiletries from hotel stays?

There are people who need you!

I am collecting trial size toiletries to give to the homeless.  I would like to put things that homeless people can use inside bags, go downtown and distribute them to people on the street.
I am collecting toiletries, gloves, snacks and possibly extra blankets.  I will also include a letter to the person telling them that God does love them.

If you have toiletries or money to donate toward the bags, contact me, tell me what you'd like to give, and I will give you my contact information.

What are you believing God for?  Speak it out in faith! Tell Him and tell others!

He is the God of impossible situations!

God is moved by our faith and our steps of faith.  Faith requires ACTION! (faith without works is dead)

Life and death are in the tongue so speak life into your situation.  God often requires us to GO!  So, go!

Monday's Life In Him

It is amazing HOW
God will lead you TO
a person who is HURTING,
a person who is down and OUT.
Everyone around has NEEDS
no matter how much money they MAKE
or how LITTLE.

Share HIM.
Tell the hurting ONES
all bout His love for THEM.
He is their ONLY HOPE.

My God is STILL
in the miracle working BUSINESS!

Hearts On Fire Friday ~ The Love Spell Part 2

Hearts On Fire Friday

Ok, it's a little late.  2 days actually... but for GOOD reason!  (Tell ya later!)

You can read part one here:  Hearts On Fire

...so he just sat there, looking guilty.  I said, "Did YOU?  What did you do?"

He finally admitted, "I just asked God to give you the same desire for me that I have for you!"

Okayyy.....?  Sounds innocent enough, but there's a catch!  God answers my husband's prayers ~ OFTEN!

I don't know how long it took for God to answer his prayer; I've never asked. I think it may have been somewhere from a couple of days to a week. That's just a guess though.

Ok, so it wasn't a love spell.  It was God.  It was God putting the spark back into our marriage.  It was God fanning the spark and turning into a flame.  It was God making our marriage what it was meant to be from the beginning, from the beginning of time.

It was God, and He can do the same for your marriage!

His prayers are not hindered:
1 Peter 3:7

"You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered."

What A Blessing ~ I'm not telling...yet!

I continue to be amazed at my God. He keeps one-upping Himself!  Exactly one year ago, we were moving out of my in-laws house (after living there 20 months) into a beautiful almost brand new house!  (We've since moved on from there. Click the button "The Move")

Last June, Someone blessed us with something. Something absolutely wonderful!  As I try to soak it all in, I am still just in awe.  I feel like God has said, "Here you go children!  Enjoy!"

I'm not telling what it is right now.  I'll do that in a couple of days.  For now, I leave you with a hint:

Something to think about...

There's more to parenting than lectures, grounding, and saying no.

Hearts On Fire Friday ~ The Love Spell Part 1

Hearts On Fire Friday

This is a story about a husband who just wanted his wife to be... hot and passionately in love with him.
Sounds innocent enough!

You know when you look at your spouse, boyfriend or fiance' and that thrill comes over you? (If you can't relate, just think about chocolate!)  For years, that thrill would come and sadly, a short time later, it would go.  I always loved my husband, but after years and years of marriage, the birth of children, the call into full time ministry and the busyness of life, the thrill tends to grow legs and wander off a bit!

One day, that thrill started coming back.  It was so much fun! (Fun love ~ imagine that!) We were flirting all day long like teenagers and celebrating our love like never before! I couldn't believe it; the thrill was still there the next day.... and the next day... and the next day!

After a few days of "newly wedded" bliss (although married 15 wonderful years), I began to wonder what was wrong with me.  Why did I have a sudden fierce, wild, giddy, flirtatious mindset for my husband?  Where did this come from?  I've always been in love with him and adored him but what is this NEW feeling?  (I can't even put it into words, but trust me.  It's awesome.)

I'll never forget the day that we were sitting at the kitchen table and I innocently asked, "What in the world have you done to me?  I feel like you put a love spell on me!"  (For all of the righteous criticizers, I know that spells are witchcraft.  Just humor me.)

My husband just smiled like he'd been busted.  With ultimate curiosity I said, "What?!  Did you?  What did you do?!!!"

Stay tuned for Part 2 of The Love Spell!

Have you ever?

An interview with Mrs. Pinocchio

? :  Hi Mrs. P!  I'm going to ask you a very important question today.  I just want you to know that I'm not judging you; I'm just putting it out there for thought.

Mrs. P:  OK!  I like to think, especially before I speak!

? :  Oh... one look at your nose and I can tell that!  Ok, let's get to it.
Mrs. P, Have you ever lied?

Mrs. P:  Hmmm... Well yes!  Hasn't everyone?  We are human after all.

? :  That's right.  We are all human!  So what does that make you?

Mrs. P:  Human!  Since I've lied, it makes me like every other human... imperfect.

? :  That is so true!  Have you ever had someone lie to you Mrs. Pinocchio?

Mrs. P:  Why yes!  That is soooo frustrating!  I hate it when people don't have enough respect to tell me the truth!  You know, just the other day I was talking to my friend and she...

? :  Ok!...  I see we've hit a sore spot!  So, you must not like it when people lie to you.  When someone lies to you, what does that make them?

Mrs. P:  That makes them a LIAR!

? :  Yes, Mrs. P.  That makes them a liar...

Stay tuned for Part 2 of The Interview With Mrs. Pinocchio.
