1 Samuel 2:6-7 (NASB)
The LORD kills and makes alive;
He brings down to Sheol and raises up.
The LORD makes poor and rich;
He brings low, He also exalts.
The word poor means:
to occupy (be driving out previous tenants, and possessing in their place); by implication to seize, to rob, to inherit; also to expel, to impoverish, to ruin
No kidding?
God never ceases to amaze me!

Hmmmm, somehow I feel like I'm missing something. Do you think this means he kicks someone out of a residence, and puts someone else in there?
I don't think that it means that. That's what it says. If you look that word up in the Hebrew, that is the exact definition. I was surprised to find that definition of the word "poor". I would automatically assume that "poor" would mean "lacking" in something.
"Kicks" probably wouldn't be the word that I would use though. Maybe I would say, "moves people on" or "orchestrates" such an exchange.
Check this one out:
Ecclesiastes 2 (NIV)
26 To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Blessings,
Janet
God is really cool like that! :)
