Some people run to the bottle, some people run to the phone, some people run to the mall, some people run into a state of depression, and some people run to _________.
Some people fret or worry. I know people who actually make up crazy scenarios and then worry over them for days! They fret all day and worry all night to the point of not having a restful sleep. Their bodies are full of pain that is a result of the poisons created from worry. It's a vicious cycle.
I've got good news! Strongholds can be broken!
Whatever binds you when the going gets tough, is a stronghold. When a person has Jesus, that negative stronghold can be broken. It may take time, it may take a process, it may take a brother or sister in Christ to pump faith talk into you, but it is possible!
If your mind is not filled with God’s thoughts, the enemy will fill it with his.
"So Miss Janet, how do I break a stronghold?"
- First, you have to be willing to "let go and let God." Let God be God. He has to have control and in order for that to happen, you have to be out of control! This will be done through prayer. Keep the prayer connection to God open at all times of the day.
- The Word of God needs to be a priority. Dig in. Find verses in the Bible that will fill you heart with faith. Post the verses around your house, car, or workspace, then read them! Believe them! Before long, you will be able to quote them. That is hiding God's Word in your heart.
- Find a friend that has got the gift of faith. Tell them as much as you can without going into too much detail, and ask them to correct you when you get off track. Be careful not to lean on the faith friend more than God. A faith friend is a good supplement.
- Realize that your stronghold is Jesus. In Him, all things hold together and He can work any situation out for your good. How does He do that? I don't know. But you have to trust Him. His Word promises that He will. I know that there are some HORRIBLE situations that look too gruesome to be worked out for good but He said that He would. You just have to believe Him and let Him do the work.
Zechariah 9:11-12
As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you,
I have set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.
12Return to the stronghold, O prisoners who have the hope;
This very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you.
Psalm 18:1-2
I love you, LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
