The Most Powerful Muscle

There is a debate about which muscle in the human body is the strongest.  Some say the jaw muscle and some say the gluteus maximus (rear end).   Others say, relative to size, the strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.

I don't know the real answer to that question, but I do know that the tongue is VERY powerful!  The Bible says that "Life and death are in the power of the tongue."  (Proverbs 18:21)  The New Living Version puts it this way:   "The tongue can bring death or life."

This isn't exactly a popular subject for us WOMEN!  LOL!  When the subject of "taming the tongue" is brought up, there is an awkward silence and sometimes even some squirming!  You know that squirm.  It's similar to the one that happens when "submission" is mentioned!

Take a look at these ladies.  Which one do you have more in common with?  Which one do you have a tendency to be drawn towards?

Chatty Kathy

Proverbs 10:8
The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.

Uplifting Eula

Proverbs 31:26
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

Opinionated Oprah

Proverbs 18:2
A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

Careful Carrol

Proverbs 17:27
A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered.

Flattering Felicia

Proverbs 28:23
He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue.

Instructing Ingrid

Proverbs 16:23
A wise man’s heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction.

Gossiping Gail

Proverbs 20:19
A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.

Healing Helen
Proverbs 15:4
The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life

These are some humorous examples but it is a serious subject.  Taming the tongue and watching my words closely is something that I have to continuously work on!   I choose to be like Eula, Carrol, Ingrid, and Helen!

The Simple Woman's Daybook for April 30, 2011

Outside my window... ~ it's a sunny BEAUTIFUL day in Chicagoland

I am thinking... ~ about how I am going to enjoy this day

I am thankful for... ~ our new home

I am wearing... ~  totally un-matching pj bottoms and t-shirt... BUT, I will be changing soon to look good for my man!

I am remembering... ~ uhhh... nothing!  LOL!

I am going... ~to be looking at some new curriculum for next year's homeschool

I am currently reading... ~ James.  It's always hard for me to pick a new book of the Bible to read.  Since I finished Hebrews, I decided to just keep going and James was next.  It's short so I'll have to figure out what I want to dive into next.  (What are you reading?)

I am hoping... ~ for warmer weather so I can plant my garden.  Or, my "farm" as the boys call it!

On my mind... ~ I'm trying to figure out how to capitalize on my blog.  How do I make money?  My homeschool blog is getting about 3000 page-views a week.  What do I do next?

Noticing that... ~  Our boys are growwwwing.  VERY soon son #1 will be taller than me.  Hmm...

Pondering these words... there is power in prayer.  What does that mean for a stay at home mom?

From the kitchen... ~ Trying to be creative here.  There are just a few days till payday and I'm not creative in the kitchen.  I am going to look for some interesting casserole recipes online today.

Around the house... ~ Everyone is taking the day off.  It's Memorial Day so that means it's a lazy day.  Getting a few things done but not killing ourselves.

One of my favorite things...~ Making new friends.  I need one...

From my picture journal...~  My husband and I were traveling on the highway recently and we saw this "coffee" truck.  (This is a similar pic.  Mine is on my phone.)  I sent it to my friends and family in a text and I said, "Who needs Starbucks when you can have this?  Hook me up!"

So Excited to Be Back!

Oh my goodness!  I am thrilled!  Not too long ago we moved our church and the next week we moved our family.  That was... quite an experience to say the least!  God has blessed us with a beautiful home (which I will be more than happy to tell you about later) and we are all settled in.

It has taken a long time for us to get internet but we FINALLY have something.  I have missed blogging and writing so much!  I had to put my VLOG (video blog) ministry on hold but I'm ready to hit the road runnin!

At first, not having internet was refreshing!  The second and third weeks it got a little harder to be without.  After a month, well.... now I'm irritated!  That was just down-right inconvenient!  LOL!

I learned a lot and am back with a vengeance err agenda!  I am re-focussed and re-energized!  I wish to inspire you and stir you on to good works in Christ Jesus!
