Parenting Encouragement

1-2-3

Luke 6:40 Are students better than their teacher? But when they are fully trained,
they will be like their teacher. (CEV)

Why do we as parents want our children to mind us the first time? Why do we expect them to mind us at all? How important is it that they mind us?

As parents, we desire our children to mind but sometimes it is for selfish reasons. Our purpose in teaching them to obey our voice is so that they will learn to obey the voice of God. When they grow up and aren't under our influence any longer, they will need to recognise and obey the voice of the Lord.

I just want to encourage you to examine your motives, change directions if you have to and show your children what it means for a person to mind the first time. Listen to the voice of the Lord and do what He says. Lead by example!

Glad you enjoyed the video! My husband tries really hard to remember not to use me in his sermon illustrations and I have to say, he hasn't done it in a long time, thankfully. Of course, he has always used funny illustrations that I've been ok with him sharing, but he still doesn't want to do that. I thought the video was hilarious!!!!

Your post made me think a lot, but about something a little bit different.

I work with children of all ages and learning abilities. Sometimes I think the Lord hits me over the head with a hammer and says, "Listen to the children and learn."

Often the greatest teachers of all are truly the children. They certainly make me find answers to questions I didn't even know I had! They also make me face challenges and grow to become more loving....
