I Moved!

We are finally feeling settled in and at home in our new house.  The people that we are renting from are great Christian people and have gone over and above to help us feel at home.  What a blessing this move has been.

There's only one problem, we don't have internet yet!  Yes, for me that is a huge problem.  Not only because I blog but I have several responsibilities that rely on the internet!  Oh boy...  Well, hubs is working on that and I'll have plenty to catch up with later.

I do miss my bloggy friends!  Hope to be back sooooon.  :)

Whistle while you work.... sswwssswswss... !

portable-imperial-party-time-small.jpg

When I was a little girl, I had a record player and a 45 of "Wistle While You Work."  (Am I showing my age?)  I loved that song!

Today, as I am packing our house up, I have my own newer version of "Whistle While You Work."  I am woshiping while I work and learning while I work!

Here are the songs that I am singing along with:

This is what I am learning and being inspired by:

Looking to make a purchase? Price is negotiable!

Yes, I'm still at it.  We are packing and moving but I wanted to share a recent experience with you.

Did you know that price is negotiable?

We went to a furniture store to see a sofa that I liked.  It was on sale that day and I really liked the price!  We noticed that the large cuddle chair was on sale with it as a set.

My husband figured up how much tax would be and I didn't want to go that high.  Tax was going to be an extra $50.  No thank you!  I had a set amount in my head and that was it.  That's just how I roll!

The sales man came over and we asked if he would come down $50 on the set.  He grumbled and said that's as low as he can go.  Silence... my husband didn't say anything!

The pressure rose... all of a sudden, the salesman said that he would ask the "Powers that be!"

Amen!  Now you're speakin my language!  As he walked away, we just chuckled.  I said, "Thank you Lord for your blessing and for the sofa!"

We KNEW that if he asked the "Powers that be," we were going to get what we asked for.  Before we left, my husband had already thanked God that we walk in His favor

I learned from my husband in one short lesson on price negotiation.  I will tell you MY story in another post.  I was at a thrift store and practiced what I learned.  Well... like I said, I'll tell my story later.

Do you negotiate?  Give me some tips!

2 Chronicles 16:9a (NLT)
The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.

Walk in your blessing and favor!  God has already blessed you!  Thank Him for it!

Here is the sofa and chair that I got... CHEAP!  Yes, it's denim!  It's like sittin on a comfortable pair of jeans.

Homeless to Harvard ~ Perseverance

photo creditThis is a story about perseverance at it's best.  It is properly titled, "Homeless to Harvard," because that is exactly what she did.

Liz Murray was born into a loving family.  There was only one problem; her parents became addicted to drugs and contracted aids.  At a young age, Liz was left on the streets to survive.  At 16 her mother died from aids and she made the big decision:  to persevere.

This is such an awesome story!  I watched the movie tonight on YouTube and then watched all of the interviews I could find.  I love to find out what people are doing after I see a "true story" movie.

I did some research tonight and it seems as though Liz is a Christian.  I found some links to her speaking ministry.  She is a motivational speaker and speaks at schools and other functions.

Liz Murray wrote a book called, "Breaking Night."  You can find it through my link to Amazon.  The book tells her story of growing up homeless.

Here are some links for the movie and an interview:

I'm A Proud Mama

I just have to tell ya about our 14 year old son.  He is very into producing and editing  movies and photos.  When left to himself, that is what he does.  (Yes, that means a LOT of computer time.)  He is also getting trained by professionals at another church!

God has His hand on this boy/man.  God's favor is all over him and we point that out when needed.  I say "when needed" because he is quite capable of seeing God even when we don't!  He already knows what his Spiritual gift is and I praise God for giving that particular gift to him.

He loves to serve God with his talents and abilities.   He just got a professional program to do video editing and is making a "commercial" for our church.  Another way he loves to serve God is by going downtown Chicago with us to serve the poor and homeless meals.

I just had to tell the world... or... my readers about our oldest son.  I praise God for him.  He amazes me.

Jammin Today

Listening to this today for pure enjoyment!  ;)

Remember when I said...

I want, I want, I want?  I wrote a post called, "I Want, I Want, I Want... Sound Selfish?"

I wrote that post for the purpose of putting the words out there.  Speaking my desires and having faith in God to provide them.  I know that we are not guaranteed that God will fulfil our every whim.  I know that He isn't a genie in a bottle.

BUT I also know that God wants to bless His children.  I also know that obedience is directly linked to blessing.  I also know that we "have not because we ask not."  I also know that when you live a life of obedience and a life full of faith, you please Him.

So, I put it out there... and He responded.  I wast tempted to delete it.  I didn't want my motives judged by my readers.  I didn't want people to only look at the words and not know the life that I live.  But, I left it.  I left it because I care more about what God wants.  I knew that according to God's Word, our words have power.

Like I said, He responded.  After waiting 7 months in the farm house, a temporary place, God has provided exactly what I asked for in faith.  Exactly.  We have found a place to live.  It is not temporary.  This place has more space than we even need for our family of 4.  It has everything that I listed and then some!

Praise the LORD!  We will be moving again (3 times in 2 school years) in just a few weeks.

I am so thankful that God cares.  He listens when we ask.  He responds when we unlock the door with the obedience key.  (The Blessing of an Obedient Life)

Matthew 7:11 (NLT)

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

Deuteronomy 28:2

And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the LORD your God

James 4:2
You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.

Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
