Our Trip to Chicago

*We took a trip to downtown Chicago today. It was such a nice day to see life (different life than what we are used to seeing) and just be together.

You can read more about our trip to Chicago and see pics and vids here: Homeschooler Cafe.

*I am so thankful for our family. If you want to feel thankful for your family, read H-Mama's post from today and you'll see what I mean. (I dare you not to cry!)
*I'll leave you with some verses that spoke to me today:
Psalm 115:11-15

You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD;

He is their help and their shield.

The LORD has been mindful of us; He will bless us;

He will bless the house of Israel;

He will bless the house of Aaron.

He will bless those who fear the LORD,

The small together with the great.

May the LORD give you increase,

You and your children.

May you be blessed of the LORD,

Maker of heaven and earth.

The 2 Espressos have been traumatized. We were at my parent's house which is in a rural subdivision. Nothing ever happens there. The sun was setting and the boys were outside in the front yard playing. They saw a teenager (a friend of the teen across the street) ride past them very fast. Espresso said hi but the boy looked straight ahead and ignored him.

Espresso then realized that the boy had rode out of another neighbor's yard on their bike. He stole it!! He went into their back yard and stole their racing bike. The 2 Espressos ran down to their friend's house and told them that someone just rode down the rode on their bike. The dad jumped in his car to try to find the kid.

Espresso is talking non stop about this. He is going over and over how unfair it is that someone works hard to earn money for something and then someone else just comes in and takes it.

I am so glad that he has witnessed this thievery and has been moved by it. I am so glad that they have been able to see things that aren't nice or are illegal (we saw a drug deal not too long ago) and are moved by how bad the acts truly are.

Boy, this sounds like we live in a really bad city. Not true. This kind of thing goes on all around everyone but not everyone sees it! So sad.

This verse is true: 1 Peter 5:8 Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour.

BUT, this verse is true too!!! Colossians 1:13 For He has rescued us from the one who has brought us into the kingdom of darkness, and He has brought us into the Kingdom of His dear Son.

I Was Blessed

I read this verse in a post on another blog, The HomeScholar Helper, and it spoke to me and blessed me. I thought that I would share it with you and let it bless you too.

Psalm 9:9
The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble; And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Be blessed...

God is so good!

It always amazes me how God is interested in even the smallest details of our lives. Since money is tight for us it is kind of hard to find things to do as a family that don't cost an arm and a leg! (If any of you have ideas, please do share!) One of their best friends had a birthday party and it was such a blessing to the 2 Espressos! They got to go to a "Fun Center" and have pizza, play games, win tickets, and drive go carts twice! They were on cloud 9 for days.

Espresso is interested in making videos and posts them on youtube. He always has the camera going to shoot someone doing something funny or gross. I just found a program online that lets you make cartoons AND it's FREE!! Yay for him and me!

It's called DoInk. If you are interested in seeing how it works, I posted a video on my other blog.
God is good, isn't He? These are just some small ways that He has shown love to us lately.
Are you seeing God in the small details of your life?

Going To Church

For us, going to church is a little different than it is for most people. Being that Dream Latte is a pastor, (great name for a pastor, don't you think?) church has a different feel than it would normally. Sometimes, we go to church for fun! That's right, FUN! We find a larger church that has service on Saturday night and we "go to church".

Your pastor may need a time of refreshing, even if it is just for an evening of relaxation and hearing from the Lord. I'd like to make a suggestion. Get together with some caring people and figure out how you can bless your pastor. It will knock his socks off! (That could be gross...)

Here are some suggestions:

Have your children make some cards for him
Send him and his family e-cards or encouraging emails
Pray for him as a group and send him a card telling him that you did
ASK him what you can pray for specifically (then ask his wife!!!!!)
Take his family a cake or a dinner
Take up a collection for dinner for him and his wife
Take up a collection and send him and his wife out on a couple day sabbatical

If anyone has any other neat ideas, please comment them and I will post them. Thank you!

FYI: No, these aren't suggestions for our congregation! (They don't read my blog.)

Are you in first place or second?

Dream Latte and I went for a walk yesterday. We had, what I thought, was an interesting conversation. I asked him if I was in second place in his life. I wasn't asking out of jealousy. I wasn't suspicious of him. I just wanted to be reassured that I was in second place and not first!

Some of you may know why I want to be second in my husband's life but others may be curious as to what I desire to be second to. God... I want to be second only to God. I wanted to make sure that, yes, he takes what I say into consideration but first and foremost he listens to what God is saying. I do not want to rank above God, ever!

That can be hard for a woman to hear at first but the more you allow Jesus into your own life the easier it gets. God should come before spouse, work, children, church influence, friends, hobbies, and anything else that you focus on in a day.

So, go ahead and try it. Put Jesus before all that you do and everyone that you love and see what happens.

Espresso's Video Hobby

Espresso has quite a fascination with video making. He makes documentaries when we go on trips, videos gross things that the Moose does; he has that thing running all of the time. (Sometimes, I have to make him instantly delete a video because someone didn't know it was running and the result might be quite embarrassing!)

Often, he edits, adds sound effects, text, or music to his videos. Here is one of his recent videos that I thought was pretty cool.

Great Deal!

Father's Day is almost here! A lot of dads, grandpas and papas in the USA have everything that they need and a lot of what they want.
Here is a great deal and great ideas!

Get $5 off of a $15 order at Walgreen's Photo. You can make all kinds of projects or just make some prints.

Coupons and Bargains -- part 2 / Grab a coupon link

I went grocery shopping again today. I was terribly disappointed last week because Dream Latte's paycheck didn't get deposited on time for me to get last weeks sales with coupons. Well, God made up for that! There were so many more things on sale that I could use coupons for that I think I got better deals this week than I would have last week!

I saved $25.00 in coupons and $30.00 in sales. That is a total of $55.00 in savings! What a blessing from the Lord. ...and I was so proud of myself! My husband went with me and I was able to show him how I can help contribute to our finances without having to work outside the home. (Not that he wants me to, I was just proud of myself.)

I wouldn't mind having a way of making money while I am at home but for now, coupons and sales are where it's at for me!

Do you have a way that you make money while staying home or have you come across some good deals lately?

Here are some places that I get coupons from:

Coupons and Bargains!!

I LOVE getting what I need at a cheaper, discounted or clearance price. (FREE is even better!) I remember the days when I wasn't as "penny wise" and paid full price for whatever I needed or wanted. Of course, a smaller income will cause the average woman to suddenly become frugal or "penny wise"!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to try out coupon clipping. I had an Entertainment coupon book that a friend gave me for free. That provided 2 buy one get one free burgers at Schoop's. My mom had spent $ at Kohl's and got a $20 off coupon and gave that to me. I had clipped many coupons from Coupon Surfer and from the sale flyers for our local grocery stores. By the time my evening was over I had saved over $100 on my first trip out!! WOW that was exciting!

I tried Walgreens next. I found coupons in the paper and looked to see if what I needed was on sale. The total for the bill was $38 but after coupons it was $20!! Woo hoo! That's better than 50% off!

This evening I went shopping and decided to check the Salvation Army first. I found a brand new, ankle length, denim skirt, a shorter denim skirt, a pair of dress capris, 2 polos for my husband and a pair of jean shorts for Double Espresso. I got all of that for under $10! Woo hoo again!
I recently got a free 8X10 from Walgreens, too!

Are you are bargain shopper or a coupon clipper? Ever get anything for FREE?
As I come across great deals, I'll be sure to let you know!
